Sign Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, HBO Max and Disney+ out of a hotel or rental TV remotely, and check nobody kept watching.

Checked 17 Oct 2026 · 10 min read

This guide shows you how to sign Netflix, and the other streaming apps you may have used, out of a hotel or holiday-rental TV after you've left. You'll check what has been watched since, close the gap with a password change if needed, and set yourself up so the next trip leaves nothing behind. It takes about 15 minutes from your phone or computer.

Why bother

A TV doesn't know you checked out. Netflix says its official hotel service, found on hotel-run TVs in some US chains, clears guest details automatically at checkout. But that only works where the TV is tied to the hotel's own system. Ordinary smart TVs, streaming sticks, holiday rentals, Airbnbs and many smaller hotels have no such link, and even an integrated system can fail to run. In those cases the app simply stays signed in to your account until someone signs it out. The next guest can then watch on your plan, see your profiles and viewing history, and take up one of your streams. Travellers often report finding a previous guest's account still signed in on rental TVs.

Before you start

Steps

1 Sign the hotel TV out of Netflix from your phone

  1. In a browser on your phone or computer, go to netflix.com/manageaccountaccess and sign in if asked.
  2. You'll see a list of devices that have streamed recently. Each entry shows the device type, the last profile used on it and the last watched date and time.
  3. Find the hotel TV. It usually appears as a TV brand or model (for example a Samsung, LG or Sony TV) with a date matching your stay.
  4. Tap the down arrow next to it, then tap Sign Out.

You should see the device disappear from the list or be marked as signed out. Netflix says devices can take up to 48 hours to show up on this page, and some aren't listed at all, so if you can't find the TV, go to Step 2.

2 Sign out of every Netflix device if you can't spot the TV

Use this if the hotel TV isn't listed, you aren't sure which entry it is, or you see devices you don't recognise.

  1. Stay on netflix.com/manageaccountaccess.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign Out of All Devices.
  3. Confirm by tapping Sign Out in the pop-up.

Every device on the account is now signed out, including the one you're using. Sign back in on your own devices as you need them. If you see "Sorry, this device can't be removed now", you have removed too many devices with downloads recently; Netflix says to wait and try again later.
